Matterport 3D Tours for Airbnb and Vacation Rentals
Guests swipe through dozens of rentals in a few minutes, and the photos start to blur together. A Matterport 3D tour gives them something different: the chance to walk through your rental, room by room, before they book. I capture short-term rentals on my Matterport Pro2 and help hosts turn that scan into marketing that gets them found and booked.
Why guests want to see the whole place
Booking a rental is a leap of faith. Is the second bedroom really a bedroom? How far is the bathroom from the main suite? Is the kitchen big enough for a family dinner? Photos answer some of that. A 3D walk-through answers almost all of it, because the guest controls where they look.
When guests know what they’re getting, you get fewer surprises at check-in, fewer “that’s not what the photos showed” complaints and more reviews that say the place was exactly as described.
One scan, a lot of content
Matterport’s short-term rental page describes getting photography, video tours and floor plans from a single digital twin. That’s the real value for hosts: one visit, and you leave with assets for every channel.
- A full 3D tour for your direct-booking website, your Google Business Profile and social posts.
- A 2D floor plan that helps guests understand the layout at a glance.
- Still images from the scan you can use in your listing photos.
- Accessibility details, like measured doorways, which matter to guests who need them.
Airbnb itself has used Matterport scans to verify accessibility features. Its help center describes offering select hosts a Matterport scan to measure door thresholds and doorway widths and add a 2D floor plan to the listing. Airbnb has its own rules about links and content inside listings, so I’ll help you use the tour where it fits best, especially on a direct-booking site you control.
Why hosts pair tours with search
Many hosts rely on a single booking platform, and that means competing on the same grid as every other listing in town. A direct-booking website with a 3D tour, good photos and pages that answer travelers’ questions gives you a second way to get found and a way to keep more of each booking. Repeat guests, wedding groups and horse-show visitors often search for places to stay by name and by area. You want to be there when they do.
I help hosts build that presence: a tour that shows off the property, page copy that matches what travelers search for, and a Google Business Profile that sends people to your site. The tour is the part guests remember. The search work is the part that brings them to it in the first place.
Built for Central Florida hosts
Ocala and Marion County draw horse-country visitors, families heading to the springs and people passing through on the way to the coasts. Whether you host a farm stay, a downtown loft or a lake house, the goal is the same: stand out in search, look trustworthy and get the booking. That’s where my day job as the Ocala Florida King of SEO comes in. The tour is the hook; the local SEO around it is what helps travelers find you.

Owners, managers and investors
Property managers can use one tour to market a unit, brief cleaners and maintenance teams, and show owners what their property looks like today. If you’re thinking about selling a rental, see my page on real estate listing tours. And if you want a dated record of your property’s condition, see insurance and property documentation.

Frequently asked questions
Can I put a Matterport tour on my Airbnb listing?
Airbnb has its own rules about outside links and content in listings, and those rules can change. You can use photos and a floor plan from the scan in your listing, and use the full 3D tour on your own direct-booking site, social media and Google Business Profile.
How long does a scan take?
It depends on the size and layout of the rental. Airbnb’s help center notes a Matterport home scan typically takes 1 to 3 hours. I’ll give you a time estimate with your quote.
Do I need to stage the rental?
Have it guest-ready: clean, beds made, lights on and clutter put away. Whatever is in the space shows up in the tour.
Do you work outside Ocala?
I’m based in Ocala and work across Central Florida. Put your property’s city in the form and I’ll let you know.
